In this study, we examined the prairie–forest ecotone in south-central Minnesota using two lake sediment cores to reconstruct independent records of climate, vegetation and fire over the past 12 500 years. Responses of vegetation and fire to climate change may be tightly linked as a result of strong feedbacks among fuel production, vegetation structure and fire frequency/severity, but the importance of these feedbacks for controlling the stability of this ecotone is unclear.Ģ. Treeline ecotones, such as the prairie–forest boundary, represent climatically sensitive regions where the relative abundance of vegetation types is controlled by complex interactions between climate and local factors. We have appropriately licensed and experienced Spotter Catchers based in Weipa, available for our Cape York Peninsula and North Queensland clients.1. The Spotter Catcher approach to fauna management during clearing operations is now widely required by regulators as part of approvals for developments. Teams can operate from rudimentary vehicle based bush camps or fly camps, through to more substantial remote mining camps, and also have experience in access via light fixed wing or rotary aircraft. We operate specifically equipped remote area 4WD vehicles and satellite based tracking/safety systems to ensure that remote work can be completed safely by teams with substantial remote area and off road experience. We specialise in scoping, planning and successfully implementing survey and assessment in hard to get to places. We are currently involved in research and management of numerous threatened fauna species including the Palm Cockatoo, Red Goshawk and Northern Quoll on Cape York Peninsula. We have a long history of involvement in threatened species research, survey and management, from Hastings River mouse and powerful owl in NSW, to the Mary River turtle and southern barred frog in southeast Queensland, and Austral cornflower and yakka skink in the Brigalow Belt. Unfortunately the list of threatened flora and fauna species continues to grow in Australia and these species often form the focus of ecological works for conservation or development. We have conducted comprehensive biodiversity surveys from a local to landscape scale within multiple Bioregions, and maintain synergies with other well respected consultancies to address additional biodiversity groups in aquatic, marine, and invertebrate spheres as required. Our Team includes specialist Ecologists in flora/vegetation and all vertebrate animal groups, and is well placed to conduct biodiversity surveys for a range of client needs such as conservation assessment, conservation planning, or biodiversity monitoring. Our team has the expertise to conduct trigger map and regional ecosystem surveys that are often required for Queensland approvals, together with more general or specific vegetation surveys as required within and beyond Queensland. The Queensland vegetation management environment includes a number of specific surveys or assessments that may be required if you intend to disturb vegetation. Legislation is constantly changing, we can assist in identifying the appropriate scope of work to ensure you satisfy legislative requirements and keep your Project on track and on time. From our inception we have been involved in ecological assessments and surveys to inform approval processes at Commonwealth, Queensland and local government levels.
